Travel Tips & FAQs

Travel Tips:

Plan your travel with a Holiday Planner

Travel is full of pitfalls. One wrong step and your vacation could be ruined by a seedy hotel room, an overpriced restaurant, a wasted afternoon at a tourist-trap attraction or an overnight flight crammed in the middle seat. So, guarantee a smooth trip by planning thoroughly by a Travel Professional. We at Born2holiday make sure that all your travel needs are taken well into consideration before the commencement of your travel.

Rise early around sunrise to have the best attractions all to yourself by avoiding the crowds. It’s also the best time for clicking some lovely photos .and usually easier to interact with locals. Sketchy areas are less dangerous in the morning too. Honest hardworking people wake up early; touts, scammers, and criminals sleep in.

Always make it a point to start conversations with local people. Basic English is spoken widely all over the world, so it’s easier to communicate than you might think especially when you combine hand gestures and body language.

Learn about their culture, traditions and food when you are in their locality. People enrich your travels more than sights do.

If you lose your wallet, your card stops working, or the ATMs run out of money, you’ll be glad you kept some ready cash available for your emergency. Cash is king around the world and make sure to stash some in a few different places in your luggage- inside socks, under shoe inserts, a toiletry bag, around the frame of a backpack, even sewn behind a patch on your bag. I recommend at least a couple hundred dollars worth

Ask local people for recommendations. Eat street food from vendors which is where you will get to eat the actual flavours. Don’t be scared of the food you eat. Eating at fancy restaurants will not give you the actual feel of the local food.

You may only see these places & meet these people once in your lifetime. Remember them forever with plenty of photos. Don’t worry about looking like a “tourist”. Great photos are the best souvenir which we will cherish for the rest of our life. They don’t cost anything, they’re easy to share with others, and they don’t take up space in your luggage. Just remember once you have your shot to get out from behind the lens and enjoy the view.

If you want to see the parts of town where real people live & work, you need to go visit them. The best way to do this is on foot — without knowing exactly where you’re going. Write down the name of your hotel so you can catch a taxi back if needed, then just pick a direction and start walking. Don’t worry too much about stumbling into dangerous neighbourhoods either, as locals will generally warn you before you get that far.

The world is not nearly as dangerous as the media makes it out to be. Keep an eye out for sketchy situations but don’t let that be the focus of your whole trip. Use common sense and you’ll be ok. Most people are friendly, trustworthy, generous, and willing to help you out. This goes for women too

No one wants to get sick, injured, or robbed while travelling, but it can happen. With travel insurance you don’t have to worry about huge hospital bills or stolen gear when it eventually happens. For all kinds of trips ranging from a weekend up to a few months long, we always recommend to carry travel insurance.

Have you ever gotten to click the best shot and realized your camera battery is dead and you don’t have a back up? Always try to bring at least one or two extra camera batteries on all of our trips so that we don’t miss out on that perfect shot.

Half of the things when we travel are not even used by us. Travelling lights makes your journey more joyful and worthy. Helps you move in and out to various location easily thus making you less tiring with the luggage. If you’re not sure about packing something, you don’t need it then it’s also possible to buy most things at your destination country.

Travelling too much can make you feel tired. When you’re moving from place to place it’s difficult to maintain a workout routine and giving time to your body. Sometimes it can be due to lack of sleep or too much of eating junk food etc. Remember to be nice to your by getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, eating healthy, using sunscreen, and exercising regularly.

Remember to call your family & friends from time to time. Travel isn’t lonely but always makes it a habit to let your loved ones know about your whereabouts and well being. We always come across new people on our journey who becomes our friends but eventually they go their own way. So maintaining a strong connection with the people who know you best is important.

Be quick and say yes when someone randomly invites you to meet their family, try a new activity, or explore a place you didn’t know existed. It’s these unexpected and unplanned situations that add spice to your travels and always turn into the best stories later.

Keep both digital and physical copies of your passport, visas, driver’s license, birth certificate, health insurance card, serial numbers, and important phone numbers ready to go in case of an emergency. Backup your files & photos on an external hard drive as well as online.

They don’t cost anything, they’re easy to share with others, and they don’t take up space in your luggage.

Ear Plugs can be one of the best accessories to pack for your travel. With the sounds of crying babies, drunken travellers, barking dogs, honking horns etc., the ear plugs becomes handy.

Always keep copy of your passport in a separate bag from the actual passport. If at all you lose your passport anywhere when you travel, having a copy of the same can always make your procedure smoother. So make sure to have all the photocopies of your important travel documents in a separate bag.

This is a great habit to get into if you don’t want your credit card company or bank to put a hold on your card while you are overseas. Also your bank will keep you updated of the fraudulent use of card if you happen to lose your card when abroad.

Always carry a good moisturiser or a sun screen depending upon the weather conditions at the particular destination. Make sure you carry a good sun glasses to protect your eyes from extreme sunny conditions

Shoes are one of the most important things on our travel. Since there can be long walks, moving up and down the mountain or cliffs, having a comfortable set of shoes is necessary.

Most of the people who wait to travel the world, actually never get time to travel. Travel is the best stress buster medicine.

You don’t need to sell all your worldly possessions and become a traveller. Just get out there more than you do now. Start with a weekend holiday initially. Then maybe try a week in the country next door. All other luxuries like a car, phones etc .can wait,if you truly want to travel more. It’s a big, beautiful, exciting, and fascinating world out there. Just go and explore it now with Born2holiday. “Travel is like an endless University, where you never stop learning”.
